Minotti 2022 Hospitality Vision – Waterrock Boutique Hotel and Villas Video

Minotti’s hospitality vision is increasingly evolving in terms of its design and stylistic language, giving shape, as every year, to a new and exclusive virtual project. 2022 sees the arrival of “Waterrock Boutique Hotel and Villas”, a concept that interprets the current trends of contemporary living in the residential and high-end hospitality sectors.

The new project is ideally located in a natural Mediterranean setting, lying on a coastal hilly area and offering panoramic sea views; a fascinating location designed to act as a new backdrop and maximise the dialogue between indoor and outdoor spaces and between furnishing pieces and architecture, values at the heart of the 2022 Collection.

The architectural style and materials used are closely linked to the spirit of the new collection, in absolute harmony with the mood proposed last year, in the sophisticated contrast between exposed concrete and satin-finish steel, scratched wood, lacquers and mirrored surfaces.

The spaces on offer combine the elements of the history of architecture ranging from Rationalism to Mid-Century American taste through to Brutalism, to give shape to picturesque atmospheres, the same ones that distinguish the style and identity of the brand in different contexts.

The main building in the complex is the Waterrock Boutique Hotel, home to three different areas dedicated to conviviality: the Ishi Bar, the Mizu spa and the Oleander Grill restaurant, spaces whose names refer to the Orient and its elegant and minimal atmospheres.

The lounge of the boutique hotel is animated by two different seating systems, both designed by Rodolfo Dordoni: Twiggy, which stands out thanks to its rigorous geometric shapes and the sophisticated sartorial flavour of tone-on-tone stitching, and Goodman which, available in various configurations, has compact, comfortable volumes capable of adapting to the space and needs of the individual living there.

The indoor environments of the Ishi Bar, on the other hand, see the alternation of areas dedicated to conviviality with the Twiggy seating system with informal dining areas with the Sendai lounge little armchairs, combined with the Oliver lounge tables, recreating a harmonious, enveloping atmosphere that extends to open spaces, set up with the elegant simplicity of the Yoko Cord Outdoor designed by Inoda+Sveje seats and the Patio Teak modular seating system by GamFratesi.

Suspended between inside and outside, the relaxation area at the Mizu spa is furnished with pieces that reaffirm the flexibility and transversal nature of Minotti furnishings, such as the Horizonte indoor seating system by Marcio Kogan / studio mk27 and the Patio system accompanied by the Belt Cord Outdoor seats, perfect for creating an atmosphere of welcoming intimacy in the poolside area. In the adjacent one, dedicated to relaxation, the Florida seating system not only furnishes but also defines the paths of the open-air space.

Large panoramic windows and perforated concrete partitions allow a glimpse of the landscape and its light, while the alternation of steel and lacquered surfaces in bright colours bring to mind a reinterpretation of contemporary, helping to create dynamic contrasts that become architecture.

In the Oleander Grill, the atmosphere is consistent with the Minotti language, capable of enhancing the projects and the different stylistic and cultural identities of the designers behind the collection. In this environment, the dining areas, both indoor and outdoor, are punctuated by relaxation islands in a continuous back and forth, with no interruptions, between inside and outside, between areas for conversation, work and hospitality.

Inside, the Lars and Sendai sofas alternate with the Linha Fina tables and the Yoko dining little armchairs, while the outside with the Bellagio tables and the Belt Cord Outdoor armchairs is instead characterised by the bright colours of the outdoor fabrics, inspired by nature and perfectly in harmony with the open-air space that hosts them.

The Waterrock Boutique Hotel is flanked by three different types of villas immersed in the landscape – Lotus Tree, Maple Tree and Cherry Tree – buildings differing in size, but united by the ability to accommodate the pieces from the 2022 Collection to best express the mood and eclecticism of the furnishings in different contexts.

Living rooms and living areas at Casa Decor 2022

04 / 13 / 2022

We continue walking through the spaces of Casa Decor 2022. On this occasion, we want to show you the nine projects, between lounges and living areas , that the participating professionals have devised in this edition. In all of them, you will be able to see how the new trends in decoration and interior design come with groundbreaking ideas, without fear of color or innovative textures, supported by companies and firms in the sector with a vision of the future. Also, we have been able to verify how technology merges without fanfare with craftsmanship, design and art to give free rein to social environments full of comfort and personality, which adapt perfectly to our daily world. They will surprise you!

Nometri Space

On the first floor of the Goya 89 building is Rosa Mexicano,  the space designed by Ana Mª Fernández,  from  Nometri. The interior designer has been inspired by Luis Barragán  to pay homage to color , so that it is possible to feel the energy and presence of the renowned Mexican engineer and architect.

Around this exaltation of color, we find the walls decorated with pictorial works by artists such as Brenda Fridman, Leticia Mezzetta and Débora Sánchez Viqueira, as well as design pieces in the form of sculptures such as the wall radiator, by Tubes Radiatori, and the figures of porcelain that mark the stairs. Different expressions that are added in a multidisciplinary space, which serves as a living room, dining room, art gallery and study.

The dining area is especially cozy, with Momocca furniture arranged on a Kuatro Carpets rug. Here, we also find outstanding contemporary artistic representations such as the small sculpture by Pablo Pérez Ramos, on the table, and the wall sculpture, by Domus NO.4. This space also highlights a studied technical and decorative lighting project that contributes to creating a welcoming effect.

Jaime Jurado Space

With a career spanning more than 20 years in the world of art and interior design, Jaime Jurado not only creates relaxed environments, but also designs and manufactures many of the pieces that bring his projects to life at Casa Decor. In collaboration with the designer  Mónica Bartolessis, this year Jaime offers us a contemporary space with a minimalist look , presided over by a large ceramic mural in which the Purple color stands out , which gives the space its name.

As a backdrop, walls covered with decorative panels by Panespol; floor and door jambs in Dekton by Cosentino, the same material used by the artist in the design of the table. Special mention deserves the balanced lighting of Megaman that makes his works stand out, as well as the elegance of the Aromas del Campo lamps that hang from the ceiling.

BTicino Space by Diego Rodríguez

At Casa Decor 2022, as in the  last edition , BTicino has had the prestigious interior designer Diego Rodríguez, at the head of his studio ‘Concepto DR’, to show the latest generation mechanisms of the Italian firm in a unique atmosphere, in where design and technology converge in a perfect symbiosis.

With his usual sophisticated and eclectic style , where everything is thought out in detail, the interior designer has created a Connected Home , with the most innovative series of Living Now mechanisms, as well as the new Classe 300 EOS with Netatmo video door entry system, with integrated Alexa. BTicino’s unique design and Netatmo’s latest technology together offer us a comfortable and energy efficient connected home.

In addition, in this bright room, the Dekton coatings on the floor, walls and ceiling stand out, as well as the natural oak wood, with which an original decorative structure has been created on the ceiling. The firm Bang & Olufsen has also collaborated with the Beovision Contour television.

Bang & Olufsen Space by Disak Studio

In this edition,  Bang & Olufsen has relied on Disak Studio to create the comfortable and elegant Home Cinema room where you can enjoy the Danish firm’s audiovisual products, including the Beovision Harmony television and the Beolab 28 column speakers.

As soon as you enter the space, before reaching the relaxation area, a piece of furniture with a marble top, by Cupa Stone,   serves as a breakfast and fast food area. An espresso machine from Modbar has been placed on it, and inside it has been installed a practical wine cellar from AEG, with bottles from   Dominio Fournier and Tanqueray No. TEN.

Among the pieces of furniture, a large sofa from the Atlanta collection, from the Alexandra Collection , stands out , a design with a three-position comfort system: sitting, relaxed and reclining. In addition, in the configuration of this space, Disak has used noble materials such as leather and wood, as well as warm textiles.

To cover the walls, Tarimatec wood has been used; Regarsa wallpaper ; and a textile lining by Misia Casamance.   They have also collaborated with Kaymanta, with a comfortable rug; Lutron, with home automation; and Orac Decor with 3D ceiling panels, as well as baseboards and cornices that  enrich the space.

Space Sinmas Studio

Match is the living room designed by Sigfrido Serra and Mateo Climent, which we can see on the third floor. A space inspired by its esteemedterreta, with a color range that refers to its traditions. A backlit decorative fireplace, made ofDektonwith blue veins, matching the base, stands out in the space. While the rear wall was covered with an elaborate ceramic mural, byNais.

The interior designers’ proposal is an “all-in-one” capable of adapting to modern life: from reading a book in the shelter of the fireplace, to turning the living room into an improvised gym area with Technogym equipment. A subtle play of reflections from the mirrors goes perfectly with silver pieces, such as the Joquer sofa, the curtains, the foot of the side table and the wall-mounted towel rack, a new design by Tubes Radiatori.

Querencia Studio Space

Natural materials are the main protagonists of Recuerdo, the space designed by María Querencia and Maribel López, from Estudio Querencia. The interior designers say they have been inspired by their memories to design a space that allows them to remember those moments, through the experiences of those who live in it.

Organized in two environments: a living room, with a curved architectural staircase, and a kitchen area, which is entered through an opening covered with Neolith stone, the same material that is repeated on the countertop and the sink. The sensation of visual continuity has been achieved with the microcement in the same tone that covers the floor, walls and ceiling. A large fireplace, in front of the comfortable sofa, creates a serene, warm and welcoming atmosphere. Behind the sofa, a backlit bookcase houses several pictorial works by the artist Rocío Domínguez. The Jung company has also collaborated in the space , with electrical mechanisms.

Space Studio Mo

Rastros is the name of the room thatMarta MeliánandClaudia Ribagorda, membersofStudio Mo,have designed on the fourth floor: a space inspired by the Canary Islands, volcanoes and their rock formations, the sea and its waves, wind and erosion …

The interior designers have created a simple and warm atmosphere, in which the use of natural materials such as corrugated sintered stone panels by  Lapitec are of great importance; the clay paint, by Ecoclay, as well as the light wood flooring and the natural fibers in the upholstery of the armchairs and the curtains.

Other details that make reference to the volcanic formations of the Canary archipelago also stand out in this space, such as the black natural stone, which is evident in the Miapetra washbasin and in the set of auxiliary tables that complete the decoration of this space. The mechanisms and home automation of BTcino allow the control of all the facilities of the space, as well as the lighting.

Photo: Nacho Uribesalazar for Casa Decor 2022

Marta Labrador Space

“The reminiscences of past times where the traditional architecture of the French and Madrid attic act as a common thread to give way to an attic with a poetic language of chiaroscuro in a contemporary setting”, this is how the interior designer and plastic artist Marta Labrador explains the essence of his Rhetorical Lights project .

The combination of noble wood such as oak with natural textiles, which emphasize the fondness of a past, and the combination of textiles with different geometries, gives a contemporary character to this attic, which seeks  tranquility and well-being for those who occupy it.

In the design of the space, the lighting project stands out, with the electrical mechanisms by Font Barcelona, as well as the lamps, by LZF Lamps, strategically placed on the ceiling and walls, which create a spectacular play of light and shadow. Among the pieces of furniture, the Ormo’s sofa stands out, with geometric shapes. Also worthy of special attention is the designer radiator by Tubes Radiatori; textiles and household items, from Scalpers Home ; and the occasional tables scattered throughout the space, from Sankore Africa .

Photo: Felipe Scheffel for Casa Decor 2022.

Sara Torrijos Space

Architect by profession and interior designer by vocation, Sara Torrijos has started her career at Casa Decor with the Allure living room, a warm, relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere, which we can see on the fifth floor of Goya 89.

In this space, without a doubt, the excellent work carried out on the main wall stands out, built with clay bricks baked with ancient techniques, in its most sculptural and sensual version. The wall facing the brick wall was covered with mirrors to give the space greater depth. Sara has managed to recreate a serene and calm atmosphere through natural materials and organic forms, such as Ormo’s sofa, in bouclé wool, made to measure and adapted to the curved shapes of the wall.

At Boca do Lobo, more than the creation of the ultimate luxury furniture, we take pride in embracing our Portuguese cultural heritage – and that means we take the knowledge and craftsmanship of the greatest Portuguese artisans, using ancient techniques to create something spectacular, and yet, timeless. Discover this remarkable element of Portuguese architecture, as well as the peak contemporary design in these luxury furniture pieces using hand-painted tiles, perfect for the Dubai lifestyle!

One of the key aspects of Portuguese architecture and cultural identity is the azulejo, or hand-painted tiles, which can be easily found across Portugal in different types of buildings, both inside and outside. The azulejo is a clay or ceramic plate piece, generally with a square shape decorated with colorful designs which consist, in most cases, of Moorish patterns. However, these hand-painted tiles also often portray scenes from Portuguese history, such as episodes from the Discoveries era, recollecting memories of a distant past and immortalizing Portuguese heritage.

portuguese hand-painted tiles luxury furniture

The process is very intricate. The drawing is made on parchment paper that is drawn with a graffiti pen and stamped with a coal pencil in the tile. The paintwork is done with water-based paint; a powder that is mixed with water to work the density. The painting process requires knowledge: not too watery and not too strong. The outline is made from the contour brush, and then the background is painted with a swath brush to highlight the piece. The hand-painted tile goes to the oven and the rest of the coal disappears. The process is complete.

Heritage Sideboard

Centuries of history are gathered in a single final panel, and each layer is enhanced by vertical mirrors on the lateral surfaces. The hint of wander through the rich legacy continues when two door open to a lined glossy gold leaf interior, and a classical ornament trim which make this luxury furniture piece distinctive in its opulence.

A clear glass shelf can be seen on the two individual divisions of the sideboard. Boca do Lobo had the opportunity to sit down with one of the most influential names in the international design scene: Krupa Zubin, ZZ Architects‘ Co-Founder! In this exclusive interview and exciting conversation, we were able to discover all the details behind the company’s impressive work! Ready to be inspired?

Exclusive Interview With Krupa Zubin - ZZ Architects' Co-Founder

About ZZ Architects

ZZ Architects is a design firm located in Mumbai that is driven by creativity and innovation. A multidisciplinary award-winning design business managed by Principal Architects Krupa Zubin and Zubin Zainuddin, emphasizes “Attention to Detail” in their creative works. ZZ Architects is an extremely passionate group of Architects, Interior Designers, and Graphic Visualizers who strive constantly to innovate and create amazing interior design projects.

Their wonderful work incorporates modern architecture and interior design projects across many categories and clients spread all around leading cities in India and also internationally cities: each team contains members with expertise in various aspects like project management, visualization, and design development. In this exclusive interview, Krupa Zubin shared with Boca do Lobo a bit more about the studio’s mission, how they handle the pandemic, and where they found the strength to keep working on inspiring projects! Excited? Just keep reading to find more.

Let’s talk about great design: Unraveling creative ideas and thoughts!

How did it all start? How did you decide to create ZZ Architects?

After completing a brief but eventful experience working with a few leading firms, we finally took a leap of faith and decided to formally set up a partnership firm in 2002. We were always keen on creating a firm where we could direct the design narrative and enjoy the process of being involved in every aspect of the design of a project. Over the years, our team of 5 has gradually become an efficient team of over 75 Architects and Designers, however, our role has still remained the same. We enjoy the impact of a different day at work, one that is spontaneous, thrilling, and incredibly rewarding.

Krupa Zubin

Can you tell us what’s your main design mission? How do you define your studio’s style?

We have a well-defined process when it comes to the style of any project and it is intimately connected to the client with whom we are collaborating. Our personal preference has always been to create something fresh and contemporary with a global, timeless appeal.

Krupa Zubin

Exclusive Interview With Krupa Zubin - ZZ Architects' Co-Founder
What makes a design timeless? Which are the key elements?

I think if there are factors that you had to consider, it would be quality, finish, and design, at the end, at the very core that’s what makes a timeless design. We have clients that came back to us, probably for the next office and the next house, our entire work is connected to what we’ve done when we started, so I think that tells us we are on the right path.

Krupa Zubin

How would you describe the relationship of your Studio with your audience? Do you have a special way of communicating/advertising your work? It’s important to get feedback from external sources?

Our constant driving force is the belief and faith our clients have in us and a lot of our work is from repeat clients. Receiving a call from an old client to start brainstorming on something fresh that inspires us is always a treat. Instagram is also a place to share glimpses of work and life, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. We feel that our best advocates are our clients, and that ‘social media,’ when used sparingly, is an excellent tool. Working and constantly learning with great clients and brands ensures that you are always performing at your best potential. There is a lot of optimism in the air.

Krupa Zubin

What would you say is the trend at the moment in the design world – creatively speaking?

Our homes have become the main settings of our lives: where we need to unwind and energize ourselves at the same time. We have been forced to slow down and spend time in our homes, this drives a strong desire to really create a space that reflects our inherent selves both aspirational and based on comfort.

How would you describe the typical client of your Studio? What are the main things they ask for? How do you build a professional relationship with them?

Our clientele is diverse and our strength is the method of transparent communication we have with everyone involved in a project. Every first meeting sets up the tone for a project while it helps in the narrative of the design philosophy for the project. Nowadays, social media is so relevant, and when clients come to us, they already have an idea of what they want to build. To us, it’s about creating a real journey for every project, so we’re really close with the design process, and we like to look at a design in every aspect possible, from finishings, materials, collaborations, and artists. In the end, it all comes together when you see the final outcome.

Exclusive Interview With Krupa Zubin - ZZ Architects' Co-Founder
What are your main inspirations in the Design World? And how do they influence your work?

Our passion for travel, reading, and a desire to stay on top of what’s going on in the design industry has opened up new doors for us. We strive to draw inspiration from the diverse experiences we have while traveling. We source extensively from London, Milan, Paris, and Tokyo. Every trip is such an educational trip for us. Movies are also a big source of inspiration, I watch a movie every day, and when you watch a multi-language movie is a great way to understand the design that’s happening in the country. For example, when you watch an anime you are really understanding the Japanese culture, and you can connect to it so well.

Krupa Zubin

How do you approach a hospitality project versus a residential project?

We approach each project based on its location, context, the need of the project, and client specifications. When it comes to hospitality and residential projects, there seems to be a confluence of ideologies. Most of the hospitality projects that we undertake want the experience to feel warm and homely and at the same time, residential homes want to attain the practicality and comfort of premium hospitality spaces. As we work mainly in the luxury sector. it is a great space to be working on and we enjoy the constant unraveling within these categories.

Do you have a favorite project or story about one of your projects?

Every project is clearly associated with anecdotes and each can be a series of stories. All these events come together and help to culture the final project. the relation to clients, materials, and conversations, makes every project an enjoyable experience and milestone. Furthermore, the next two years are also going to be very exciting for the projects that we will complete.

How did you deal with the Pandemic Crisis? Did it change the day-to-day situation of your work? Or did it affect any project in specific?

The pandemic has given us time to introspect, an opportunity to regroup and improve on efficiencies. As a matter of fact, we kept all our projects on hold and restrained ourselves from working from home. We encouraged the teams to just use the time at hand to just stay calm and keep a positive frame of mind. We did not have a single zoom session with our team and just felt that in such uncertain times we needed to support everyone from our team not just financially but also from a viewpoint of being optimistic and ready for the time to come. We had the opportunity to work on and actually design our new studio with a lot of time at hand. It is a new space that we could actually mold as per new requirements and needs that the pandemic also taught us. Personally, we also optimized the use of resources and concentrated more on designs, concepts, and mood boards, all while rethinking how we operated.

Krupa Zubin

Where did you find the resilience to keep working during the most difficult periods of the pandemic? Was it your clients and ongoing projects?

We needed to be patient and make the most of the time at hand. The total engagement of each member of our team with complete faith and support from our clients kept us continuing and flourishing.

Krupa Zubin

Could you describe a few highlights that came from working so much during the Covid crisis?

We spent the time making our processes more structured. Crafted our way into a new era of human connection through the positive use of social media. Besides, it puts a new lens on the organization of the studio and allowed us to dedicate ourselves to enhancing our company’s culture. Finally, set up our new studio space and used the free time to have it up and running in 5 months.

Krupa Zubin

What do you think will be the focus in the design world in the future, especially when this Covid crisis comes to an end?

The cornerstone of this new world will lie in the framework of resilience, humility, empathy, wellbeing, technology and environmentally profound spaces that instill a sense of reassurance and comfort.

Krupa Zubin

Are you working on anything new at the moment? What’s the inspiration behind that project?

What are the main challenges when it comes to a corporate design project?

It is also about time, the kind of time you take to develop a corporate project is probably much faster. We have done corporate projects for developers, investment bankers, marketing companies, and so on. So I think is such a personal thing, and after doing our own working space, we realized that you’re able to give so much more to the team space. Besides, I believe it’s about well-being and empathy.

Boca do Lobo’s essence is connected with the high values of craftsmanship. What’s the Studio’s view on craftsmanship pieces?

The reason why we love collaborating with Boca Do Lobo is for their remarkable pieces with a distinct essence and detailed craftsmanship. Also, Boca Do Lobo’s pieces have a unique synthesis of traditional sensibilities with contemporary designs that are timeless creations. We have always seen that these pieces add a great artistic element to a project. More than recommending a product, we recommend the philosophy behind the product. As designers, that is what we value about design companies, and why we get excited about Boca do Lobo.

Welcome to Cairo House

The Magnificent Living Room Full Of Earth Tones

The Enigmatic Cairo House: A Luxurious Novelty By Noura Faris

As soon as we enter this exquisite home, we notice the living room area, which exudes elegance in every direction. The McQueen II Wall Lamps and the McQueen Chandelier were used to achieve the right balance and harmony with the picture, resulting in a fantastic background. Not only that, but Noura expertly selected the Anguis SofaOtto Sofa, and Darian II Side Table, changing their colors, finishes, and materials to blend in with the architecture’s earth tones and rich materials.

The sand-colored ground, fluted walls, and gold accents of this living room reflect the natural erosion of the Giza Necropolis, while the gold accents transport us to the delights of Khan El Kalili market. All of this is complemented by a poetically inspired furniture selection. Between the walls, there is truly an Egyptian world.

Stepping into the Cairo house dining room, we are instantly transported to a place with the most perfect mix of colors, textures, furniture, and lighting pieces. The use of earthly tones and gold embellishments make this décor one of the most inspiring ones due to its beautifully crafted contrast.

The Enigmatic Cairo House: A Luxurious Novelty By Noura Faris

To reach this goal, Noura chose some of LUXXU‘s best-sellers, and we couldn’t agree with her more! The Beyond Dining Table contributes to the dining room‘s excellent center point, while the Charla Dining Chairs that surround it provide endless elegance. The utilization of two separate casegoods in this décor, such as the Darian Sideboard for storage and the Apotheosis Console for practical art, is especially noteworthy. Mirrors like the Darian Black Mirror and the McQueen II Wall Mirror, are what provide the finishing touch of personality and grandeur!

This adds a new degree of flair by harmonizing various materials, fabrics, and even patterns to create a finished set that is coherent with the other areas while also standing out on its own.
