Whether it’s a colorful living room that always helps the party to last a bit longer or a zingy bathroom that takes you to the Tropics with its emerald green gloss tiles and palm print wallpaper combination, the hues in a modern home are the perfect place to start having some fun.

IMMERSIVE WALL MURALS

By paying homage to one of the world’s oldest decorative art forms, you grant your modern home a sense of theatre and opulence. There’s the classic Chinoiserie look, the old-world map-style mural, or trompe l’oeil paneling as a more pared-back take on the traditional mural. On the whole, dining rooms, hallways and bathrooms particularly suit this painterly style of decor where there’s a little less to distract by way of furniture and accessories. Or, if you opt for a more minimal mural wallpaper, a restful bedroom space might make for the perfect setting. This is where the hand-painted mural can give rise to pretty rooms such as cute bedrooms for girls, with a delicately-does-it illustration serving as a bedtime story that shall always result in a very happily-ever-after ending.

For many, art is a source of everlasting pleasure. Collectables, heirlooms, pieces to take with you from home to home and appreciate in a new light as the years go by. It all comes down to color psychology and how brightness, shade, tint, tone, and overall color temperature can alter your experience of a given hue. Warm colors such as red, orange, and yellow are especially linked to happiness, optimism, and energy, as are bright, light pastels such as peach, soft pink, and lilac. Studies show they all release the happy hormone, dopamine. Colour theorists also suggest that blending multiple primary and secondary colors—be it in an outfit, a color scheme, or indeed a painting—will produce a happier outcome, so if you’re working with an art buyer, suggest they hunt high and low for works that tick these boxes.

PLAYFUL COLOUR PALETTES

Colourful Room Designs For A Fresh And Modern Home (2) Colourful Room Designs For A Fresh And Modern Home 2

Colorful rooms come in all shapes and sizes, so don’t be fooled into thinking that only the large living rooms can take a dramatic dose of pigment. In fact, a prudent piece of advice often offered by interior designers is to really go to town on one of the smallest spaces in the whole home—the downstairs guest bathroom or cloakroom. It’s in here that many clients test their bravery, experimenting with colorful wallpaper that they might never have dared to try in their bedroom. If this scenario rings true, think about how it makes you feel and whether that playfulness could be taken into an additional room to maximize on the spirit. After all, color is one of the most powerful tools at your disposal to dramatically alter the character of your modern home.

UPBEAT PATTERNS TO MIX AND MATCH

Colourful Room Designs For A Fresh And Modern Home (5) Colourful Room Designs For A Fresh And Modern Home 5

Pattern clashes are a surefire way to change the pace of your decor. A modern home that combines contemporary geometrics with Art Deco pineapple motifs is a home that is dynamic and gregarious. It’s a conversation starter—a reminder to not take life too seriously, to let our hair down, and to have fun. As with color, go as zany with your pairings as suits your personal style. But a heady mix of the pattern doesn’t have to be in the realm of wacky to have a mood-boosting effect. For a gentler approach, make sure your prints have points in common, such as color, which will make them sit together far more naturally.

UNEXPECTED FURNITURE PAIRINGS

Colourful Room Designs For A Fresh And Modern Home (4) Colourful Room Designs For A Fresh And Modern Home 4

It’s important to distinguish that happy rooms don’t necessarily equate to tantalizingly experimental interiors. Boldness is of course not the sole route to achieving beauty. One of the most dependable ways to ensure your furniture selections will bring a smile to your face on the regular is to really take the time to satisfy some sort of nostalgia. That could be sourcing an antique armoire and dressing table for the bedroom that brings up the memory of you playing dress up as a child in your grandmother’s bedroom. In essence, memory lane is your key to unlocking the most meaningful furniture pairings.

This special interior design project reflects the essence of Denis Košutić’s work, which can be seen as an anti-traditional perception of the role of architecture in the modern world. For this interior designer and architect, architecture is a subject of consumptions, instead of a monument for eternity. According to this, Denis redesigned a baroque Austrian Palace, giving it a modern approach. Boca do Lobo was part of the project, providing this interior designer, luxury furniture and sculptural pieces that served as an independent and strong character in the theatre play.

Abraham Menéndez (Abe the Ape) , ilustrador, ceramista y personaje locuaz y crítico y comedor de Risketos

Performance, driving pleasure, attention to quality and details, emotion: these are the emotive features combined within the Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63, thanks to innovative engineering solutions and a distinct design unique to shared Italian style and tradition.

This motor yacht project, developed by The Italian Sea Group, started with several collaborative sessions with the contribution of Lamborghini’s Centro Stile and inspiration from the Lamborghini Sián FKP 37: the hybrid super sports car incorporating benchmarking new supercapacitor and materials science technologies, that anticipates the future with an unmistakable design and completely customizable colour and details.

The challenge of re-interpreting the common DNA traits of both brands has inspired all phases of the project, from the design principles to the definition of technical characteristics ensuring incredible performance, without neglecting the quality of materials and careful attention to detail.

Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini said: ”This yacht represents the significance of creating a valuable partnership, at its best: our co-operation allows the essence of both organisations’ style and expertise to be transferred to different worlds, sharing in their diversity to interpret and add value to the final product in a new environment. If I had to imagine a Lamborghini on water, this would be my vision. I’m delighted to celebrate this successful collaboration.”

“We announced this partnership in May, and today we present Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63, a motor yacht which will became as futuristic an icon as the car she is inspired by,” said Giovanni Costantino, CEO of The Italian Sea Group. “Selected owners around the world will own not only the fastest Tecnomar motor yacht in the fleet, but a Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 masterpiece. I’m proud that we have chosen to create this innovative and challenging project with Automobili Lamborghini, which links technology, supreme design, quality and performance.”

Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 is not just an exercise in style and design; it represents the vanguard in luxury speed boats. Inspired by Lamborghini super sports cars’ performance, the most significant innovative features at the heart of the concept are speed and the dynamism of lightweight engineering.

With two MAN V12-2000 hp engines, the motor yacht reaches 60 knots and will be the fastest of the Tecnomar fleet, satisfying the demands of the collector as well as those loving life at sea. The carbon fibre material, typical of Lamborghini super sports cars, puts this motor yacht firmly in the ultra-lightweight boat classification, with its 63 feet length weighing in at just 24 tons.

The exterior design is characterized by a super sportive silhouette, with a cutting-edge but thoroughly nautical appearance. The hull and the superstructure are created from a high-performance shell, developed by naval engineers specializing in hydrodynamic sciences. They interpret the design lines, created by Marcello Gandini in the Miura and the Countach of the 60s and 70s, in a contemporary way. The hard top is inspired by Lamborghini roadsters: providing sun and wind protection while guaranteeing an outstanding aerodynamic performance. The bow lights are an homage to the Lamborghini concept car Terzo Millennio and to the Sián FKP 37, both distinctive for their Y-shaped front lights.

The interiors of Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 are the result of high-tech design based on super-performing materials for weight and function, perfectly married with the best Made in Italy heritage. Lamborghini’s iconic clean lines, hexagon shapes, Y-motif and materials are clearly incorporated into the design, together with the fully customizable colours and materials in the manner of Lamborghini’s Ad Personam programme. Clients can choose from extensive exterior colours and livery options, while the interior is offered in two versions choosing from an extensive combination of materials.

The motor yacht’s instrument panel interprets the car cockpit in a nautical style, completely integrating all navigation and control systems. As in Lamborghini super sports cars, details are finished in carbon fibre, with Lamborghini’s Carbon Skin™ used in the sports seats and on the helm, styled as the super sports car’s steering wheel. The unmistakable start/stop button, (two, one for each engine) are exactly the same used to start a Lamborghini engine.

The first boat will be available at the beginning of 2021.

Over the past decades, the ELLE Decor A-List design duo’s clientele has predominantly consisted of art collectors, including the owners of this Palm Beach vacation house. The Washington, D.C.–based couple, who had hired the duo to design their city house, explained that they were looking for luxurious, timeless interiors in Palm Beach that wouldn’t compete with their Ai Weiwei paintings and Jeff Koons modern art sculpture.

“Our old house was traditional in an old Florida sense, with lots of chintzes. We were ready for something different—an elegant beach house” says the wife, who loves throwing cocktail parties and dinners with her husband, a real estate developer.

Decor that was elegant, while also amenable to colorful abstract works, muddy footprints, and spilled drinks, was a tall order, but one to which the designers happily rose for this luxury home. Following the latest interior design ideas, Aman and Meeks employed their signature restrained, neutrals-oriented palette throughout the home decor.

Serenity reigns in this luxury home due to its calming and soft hues but also due to the artist’s side that the designers picked for this luxury interior. The clients feel at home and eager to come back anytime they leave.
